Happy New Year {2013}

Hello and Happy 2013! We all had a lovely Christmas and have been enjoying the slow pace of the holidays ever since. I've had a bit of a break from technology, (partly enforced by an accident involving my IPhone and the toilet) and it's been strangely peaceful...

I've been spending these dark and wet days curled up with the family watching films, playing games, reading books and eating far too much. When the rain has halted for longer than half an hour we've put our wellies on and tried to get out for some fresh air. I was sorry to take the decorations down this year, the days are so dark and the house always seems empty and a bit lost the first few days without them. We've all made our resolutions for the year. Mine are fairly similar to last years: Keep fit, learn something new and try to get organised. It's the last one that I think I will struggle the most with but I am going to try :)

I've also been busy blanket making in the evenings. I started a blanket for Lulu back in the summer and after 30 or so squares got the 'granny blues' and put it away. However, it's been the perfect project for the long evenings and I'm over half way now so I'm hopeful I'll finish this one! I also had a go at making up some sweet pot holders that had been on my wish list using this pattern. I really like them although they worked up smaller than I'd imagined them to be. The pattern was easy to follow; I made the grey and pink one first but found I had to 'wing it' a bit when it came to joining the petals. The second one I made I found a lot easier.

I also spent some time geeking out with the children's Hama Beads, but I love this idea of taking Cross Stitch patterns and using them with the pegboards.

I hope 2013 is a positive one for you all. Lulu will be starting school later this year, I'm both sad and excited for what this means for both of us.

Bye for now. Em xx

    Loving the pot holders. The way they interweave is brilliant. I too have a mini that starts school this year. :-(

    Happy New Year! I was obsessed with those peg board bead things when I was a kid, I made tons of them for my mom to iron!

    Happy New Year and I'm glad you had a good Christmas. It always feels so empty once you take the decorations down, doesn't it?
    Those potholders are amazing, they remind me of those napkin flowers you can make, they look lovely :)
