Christmas Gift Guide 2021

{for crocheters and crafters}

Hello, I'm popping in today with my Christmas 2021 gift guide. It's a bit later than planned but if you still have gifts to buy you may find it useful - and if not I had lots of fun putting it together! I’ve tried to include a variety of gifts including stocking fillers and some bits for younger crafters too, however, being a crocheter first you will find this list heavy on the crochet gifts...

Smaller gifts under £10

These gifts would make perfect stocking fillers or secret Santa gifts!

Colours of the World Coloured Pencils 24 Pack - my brother and I would have loved these as children, perfect for stocking stuffers.

Clover Yarn Cutter Necklace - these handy little yarn cutters are a perfect adult stocking filler for the crafter in your life. Handy if, like me, you are always losing your scissors!

Some beautiful stitch markers are always a welcome gift here, and I just love these handmade ones from Bed of Roses Norway but do explore Etsy for local makers.

This Woodland Animals Felting Kit is such good value at £5, it's beautifully packaged too, I'm looking forward to having a go at felting with Lulu this Christmas.

I have a soft spot for anything Peter Rabbit - how adorable is this Christmas-themed Fat Quarter Pack

I love these Wooden Embroidery Sets for young crafters from Hobby Craft at only £2 each they are perfect for stocking fillers or little gifts for the many friends Lulu seems to want to buy for! {not pictured}

This Mushroom French Knitting Kit is just gorgeous for the younger crafter {not pictured}

These little crochet kits from Ricorumi would make a cute gift, I especially love this sparkly Neptune one

I think a new pattern is always a lovely gift for a maker. I love these little pattern booklets from Ricorumi, they are really good value too and usually come in less than £5. Or why not support your favourite independent designers by purchasing a pattern from their Etsy or Ravelry store? If you prefer to give a physical gift you could print it and wrap it in some pretty twine.

Larger gifts £10+

Coco Knits have some lovely products, I love these snap-fit magnetic Makers Keeper bracelets, they come in a range of gorgeous colours and are just perfect for keeping your stitch markers and needles to hand.

These Rustic 4” Yarn Snips are forged from one piece of steel so they will never break and come with a protective cover they are also TSA travel approved so safe to carry in your project bag when traveling!

I’m in love with this box of Split Ring Stitch Markers as they can be used for both crochet and knitting. The colours are just beautiful too!

I also think a shawl pin or clasp would be a lovely gift for someone who loves to crochet or knit shawls. I love the size of this wooden one.

I fell in love with this gingham set of fat quarters (I often use fat quarters to line smaller crochet projects such as bags/purses) I can’t find them online but they had lots in my local Hobbycraft and a good selection of other designs online.

I also think a magazine subscription is a really fabulous idea, I would definitely be happy to see a copy of the new crochet magazine Moorit under my tree on Christmas day! Other favourites of mine are Inside Crochet and Simply Crochet Magazine.

If you are looking for a little more wow factor a crochet box subscription would be a wonderful gift, I really enjoyed the Curate Crochet Box by Lottie and Albert but The Crochet Society and Little Box of Crochet are ones I’ve heard good reviews of.

For something really special I love these beautiful handmade necklaces for knitters and makers which include detachable multipurpose stitch markers/progress keepers from Bed of Roses Norway are just stunning!

I couldn't do a gift guide without mentioning some of my favourite Crochet hooks:

If I was going to buy a set of crochet hooks an Etimo set would definitely be high up the list. I love this Black Etimo Set which comes in a gorgeous grey felt case and includes 8 hooks from 2mm – 6mm along with scissors, 2 yarn needles and a ruler! Perfect for traveling!

Lykke hooks (named after the Norwegian word for "happiness") are made from birch wood and come beautifully packaged if you are looking for an individual crochet hook (or several). {not pictured}

If you want a hook a bit more luxe then definitely try a Furls Streamline Swirl. They are hand-cast in resin before being turned and carved into their iconic teardrop shape. They come in some beautiful finishes, the one pictured is in ‘Café’

Many of you will also know that I absolutely love my hand-turned crochet hooks from Bowltech Crochet Hooks. Alan really is a master at creating the most beautiful hooks. Alan does ship worldwide but is only offering UK shipping until 4th January.

Yarn:

I am always happy to receive yarn but particularly a beautiful hand-dyed skein - the one pictured is from UK dyer Skein Queen Yarns but I can also recommend yarns from Mr and Mrs Rabbit Yarns, Dandelion and Dogwood and Dusty Dimples I could go on but you get the picture! Don’t be afraid to search out local dyers on Etsy or Instagram for a lovely gift that supports local businesses. I also like to buy my handmade project bags from independent makers on Etsy!

If your budget doesn’t stretch to hand-dyed yarn there are some lovely festive yarns available including West Yorkshire Spinners Signature Sparkle yarn and I also love this King Cole Christmas Super Chunky in Candy Cane.

Crochet Books:

I think a stitch dictionary is always welcome for knitters/crocheters, I’ve really enjoyed Crochet Every Way Stitch Dictionary by Dora Ohrenstein, which includes methods for increasing and decreasing each stitch pattern listed. Perfect if you are beginning to experiment with garment designs.

Also, this beautiful Harry Potter Crochet Wizardry Book by Lee Satori (there’s also a knit book available) makes a great gift for any Harry Potter fan.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to mention my own pattern book, Romantic Crochet which I obviously think would make a lovely gift for any crocheter ;)

Honestly, I could do a whole post on crochet and craft books but I don't want to overwhelm you!

Lastly, I found this pretty ribbon set on a beautiful wooden spool in TK Maxx of all places I think it would be lovely for any crafter (plus it looked pretty in my photo!)

P.S If you're looking for a last-minute quick Christmas gift to make check out my FREE Snowflake Coaster Pattern

Anyway, I hope that’s given you a few ideas if you are struggling for inspiration but also please don't ever feel pressured into buying anything, I think one of the best gifts my family can give me is their time - always!

Bye for now,  Em xx
