Crochet Tutorial: Granny Shawl

Crochet Tutorial: Granny Shawl

I have been slowly moving all my boxes of yarn back into the house now that the building work here is coming to an end. It has been such fun to rediscover lots of my favourite yarns and projects.  It’s also inspired me to do some stash busting…

Springing Forward

I feel like I am finally getting into the groove of this year. It helps that the sun has been shining on occasion. The affect on my mood is almost instant and I find I achieve so much more…

Crochet: February Projects

Crochet: February Projects

I promised myself this year that I would make more of the patterns I have bookmarked over the years.  There are so many lovely patterns out there but I am starting small, I am determined to pick one at a time and finish it!  So I’m really happy that last month I finished two items that have been on my wish list for a long time….

Christmas 2016

Christmas 2016

Ahh the holidays. The break over Christmas was so desperately needed.  They were quiet and gentle and just what we craved after the craziness of 2016. We’d had the builders in for six solid months, the work infiltrated every single room and it left us all feeling slightly misplaced (and totally shattered). Finally things seem to be coming together and now the mammoth task of decorating begins. But before that, two weeks of hibernating: of walks, watching movies at 3pm in our pjs, lazy suppers of leftovers, board games and naps. Total BLISS.

Experiments in Granny Squares

Crochet - Granny Square Shrug

I’ve had a lovely couple of weeks experimenting with ideas using my old favourites; crochet granny squares. I love that by changing colours and yarns you can create something unique with each new square…

Crochet Pattern - Hint of Spring Potholder

Crochet Pattern - Hint of Spring Potholder

Just before Christmas the very sweet Michelle from Scaapi sent me some samples of lovely hand dyed cottons. Scaapi distribute beautiful yarns from South Africa, they work with small companies that create stable employment for their local community.  Such a lovely company ethos. I received some super samples amongst which was some MoYa cotton yarn in the most beautiful pastel colours…

Crochet and a catch up

Crochet and a catch up

Hello. It’s been a little while since I’ve done a post just for the sake of keeping in touch. My eldest is now in her final GCSE year and it has reminded me that time passes so quickly. So I’ve been feeling the need to document the everyday moments, which of course include lots of crochet…

Crochet - A Giant Granny Square Blanket

Crochet - A Giant Granny Square Blanket

I started a blanket last spring. I suppose it was a bit of an accident. I was clearing out my boxes of yarn and thinking I really needed a project that would help use up some of the large 400g balls I had collected. A blanket seemed the perfect project. I don’t really enjoy blanket making if I’m honest and I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired but I wanted the comfort of crocheting without having to think about pattern or design…

Cheerz - Print Your Photos

Last minute Christmas gifts..

Cheerz - Print Your Photos

I was recently contacted by Cheerz to see if i'd like to try out their photo printing service. I don't know about you but I have sooooo many photos on my phone that I never do anything with. My phone is with me all the time so it makes sense that the bulk of our daily lives are captured on it (see how I justify my photo hoarding tendancies). Anyway, I was more than happy to try their service as every now and then I get my act together and try to get a batch printed from my Iphone...
